This is our top-level (root) category that should allow browsing of all pages on the Vim Tips wiki.
+
This is our top-level category. (Looking at it another way, it is our root category!)

Each category (apart from Browse) and each article should be in at least one category. Each tip should be in a category that is a subcategory of VimTip. See the [[Vim_Tips_Wiki:Category_guidelines|category guidelines]]. You can [[Special:Categories|list all categories]].
+
Ideally, every other category should be a subcategory of at least one other, and every article should be in at least one category; many will fit well into two (eg location and subject-matter). A full list of existing categories can be found at [[Special:Categories]].

  +
To add a new category, just add <nowiki>[[category:categoryname]]</nowiki> to the article or existing category page (after checking whether any existing category is suitable).
With Javascript enabled, you can expand the following categories to see subcategories. Just click the '''+''' next to a category.

====Example====

*Click the '''+''' next to the ''VimTip'' category.

*See expanded list of subcategories.

*Click '''+''' next to the ''Usage'' subcategory.

*Click ''Searching'' to see pages in Category:Searching.
