Using terminal Vim as an external editor[]

Original title was Alternative to gvim as external pop-up editor: vim + gnome-terminal

Keep. The title is terrible so it will need a rename, and needs a little work (what is a "pop-up editor"?) but the idea is sound. --Fritzophrenic 03:14, May 13, 2011 (UTC)

Keep. What about renaming as "Using terminal Vim as an external editor"? Or "...console Vim..."?
Probably add 'see also' to Set Vim as your default editor for Unix but not merge. JohnBeckett 08:42, May 30, 2011 (UTC)
I renamed it per my suggestion and added the 'see also'. JohnBeckett 07:39, May 31, 2011 (UTC)

Auto compile Javascript with Closure[]

Keep. This tip would be better if it set up a compiler plugin, but it's a neat idea. I could not find any other tips about auto-compiling on a save. Other languages could benefit with minor adaptation. Maybe briefly explain what Closure is somewhere in the tip. --Fritzophrenic 03:14, May 13, 2011 (UTC)

Display UTF-8 characters in Mac Quicklook[]

Keep. I don't like that I cannot find anywhere what the magic number is for, or if any other encodings other than UTF-8 will work with this method, but this seems very useful and a web search turns up several pages with the same basic advice (though in general terms, not necessarily for Vim). If we can find anything about the definition of that magic number and any other supported encodings I'd like to expand the tip but for now it is good enough. --Fritzophrenic 02:48, April 29, 2011 (UTC)

Automatically refresh display of html on saving file[]

Original title was Refresh Firefox (preserving scroll) on Vim save, using MozRepl

Keep, but rename. Maybe something like "Automatically refresh Firefox view of current file". The idea sounds awesome, especially on a dual-monitor setup, where you could edit on one side and automatically see changes on the other. Either way it could make it much easier to debug. Possibly with tweaking it could be made to work with files edited via netrw on some remote server. --Fritzophrenic 03:14, May 13, 2011 (UTC)

Keep. What renaming as "Automatically refresh display of html on saving file"?
Make a suggestion and I will agree and finish this month. JohnBeckett 08:42, May 30, 2011 (UTC)
I renamed it per my suggestion. JohnBeckett 07:39, May 31, 2011 (UTC)

Zilog[]

Merge to Errorformats. --Fritzophrenic 21:13, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

Merged to VimTip1575 (Errorformats). Nothing more to do. JohnBeckett 08:42, May 30, 2011 (UTC)
